Text Wizard - Delimiter Details

To access this dialog:

This screen is displayed if the [Delimited] option was selected on the previous screen of the Text Wizard. This screen is used to determine how data is separated (delimited) in the external text file.

Field Details:

The following options are available:

Delimiters: select the character in the external file that is used to delimit data from either Comma, Space, Tab, Semicolon or Other. If Other is selected, enter a character into the corresponding text field.

Treat consecutive delimiters as one: if this check box is selected, any instances of one delimiter character following another will be treated as one delimiter, for example 'data item 1,data item 2,,,data item 3' will be read as 'data item 1, data item 2, data item 3' - meaning three distinct items of data will be recognised. If cleared, the import process will assume that if no data is found between delimiters, empty data items will be created.

Preview of File...: this section of the window shows a read-only preview of the file to be loaded, and can be viewed to give you an indication of the options required in order to import the file successfully.
